As a consultant I help film and theatre-makers tell stories. Academically I explore how magic can convey information and teach practical skills. Academic
Building on my PhD, in which I studied the use of magic as an educational contrivance in the Victorian period, my academic work explores how the skill and approach of the conjurer can be utilised in an educational context. During the last decade, I have found that magic has a role to play in settings as diverse as therapy for young people, business training, grass roots science engagement and medical education. Currently, I am a performer in residence at Imperial College London/Royal College of Music Centre for Performance Science.
