When Sean Mathias was directing a star cast, including Ian McKellen, for The Theatre Royal Windsor’s production of The Cherry Orchard, a scene came up in which one of the characters needed to perform some magic. Rather than leave anything to chance I was brought in to work with the actors, helping them portray both what it is like to do magic and what it is like to see magic.
